Nice to Meet You…

My Name is Dr. Sophia Stocks…

I worked for Dr. Longton at Arizona Foot & Wound Specialists and have taken over as the new owner as of 12/1/2020. I hope to continue on his legacy and continue to provide the excellent care that he has been giving to his patients. We both trained under the same Podiatry director- Dr. Stephen Geller who has passed away but continues to live on in our hearts and guide us as we treat all patients with empathy and exceptional care.

My Passion…

I never thought I would work on feet. It was my very own experiences with having several bunion surgeries on my feet that led me to meeting my mentors that introduced me to the field of podiatry. Drs. Pan and Nguyen treated my feet from a young age all the way into adulthood and made coming to the office such a fun and memorable experience that I wanted to be a caring physician just as they were. They took their time to explain to me about my feet and did not rush the visit. My dream was to be a practitioner who mirrored the very people that valued me as not only a patient, but as a unique person, and we still keep in touch until today!

My Major and Experience…

Dr. Stocks Graduated from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas for her undergraduate studies as a liberal arts major with focuses in Biology and Theology. She then went on to teaching high school students at Worthing High School in the Houston Independent School District as well as a Human Anatomy and Physiology teacher for 9th graders at Sharpstown International High School. Dr. Stocks also traveled and lived abroad for 13 months in South Korea where she taught 9 different subjects, experienced a new culture, and ate very delicious and exotic food in a new country. After her various experiences as an educator, Dr. Stocks pursued her Podiatric Medical education at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona where she received her doctorate degree in 2017.

My Residency and Volunteering…

I attended a three year surgical & medical residency at the Carl T. Hayden Phoenix VA hospital where I treated Veterans and learned the value of serving the service men and women of America. Being a Vietnamese American physician, I have a soft spot in my heart for veterans. Without their sacrifices and service to provide my parents an opportunity to come to America- I would have never been a doctor in the states.

My Joys…

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and 2 wonderful daughters that are growing up so quickly! We enjoy walking to the local coffee shops and restaurants as well as hiking and traveling to local cities to explore new foods and what nature has in store for us.
